Review: I went to a screening of the F Word at the Toronto International Film Festival and I can say I had a good time (I can also say that Daniel Radcliffe is much much shorter in person than what you would expect.) I wasnt sure what the story was or what type of movie it would be and from the director of Goon and Fubar, I probably wouldnt have expected a romantic comedy, but as it turns out it was and I quite enjoyed it. The film tells the story of Wallace (Daniel Radcliffe) and Chantry (Zoe Kazan) who meet at a party when Wallace finally gets over being dumped over a year ago and goes back into the world. He soon finds out that Chantry has a boyfriend but the two of them decide theyll give a go at being friends. Both characters are somewhat awkward and seem to have little friends outside of Allan (Adam Driver) and Nicole (Mackenzie Davis). Their best friends are common friends but for some unknown reason they had never met before, probably due to Wallace being somewhat emotionally unstable and completely shut off in his apartment for months on end. The film is predictable overall but still brings some fresh moments. I absolutely love Adam Driver and he plays more or less the same character he plays on Girls but it was great to see him here. The characters are lovable in their awkwardness and shyness and you do hope for them to get together. Theyre also quite believable. Wallace was in med school but dropped out (still because he got dumped honestly, Wallace cant really handle being dumped) and now works at an alienating low end job, while Chantry has that girl next door look and works in an animation studio, with pressure to accept a promotion shes not sure she wants. The film is cute for sure, but also really funny at times. Im not a huge fan of Daniel Radcliffe to begin with, having seen him only in the obligatory Harry Potter series and the Woman in Black but he was quite good, and different. Its a bit slow but I cant say that was an issue for me. Toronto is featured a lot as the film was shot and takes place there (for once, theyre not pretending its New York) so it was great to see the city.While there is no release date set, the director said the movie should come out around Valentines Day so by all means, if youre looking for a fun comedy to watch, go see it. Its way better than most movies that come out for the holiday and its one I believe both women and men will enjoy.

Review: I for for one really enjoyed this movie. I saw it at a screening in Toronto. If you were a fan of Garden State you will love this movie. The cast was superb! Especially Joey King (Grace) and Mandy Patinkin (Gabe). They literally stole the movie. There was not a single bad actor in the movie. Small cameos by James Avery and Donald Faison added great comic relief. After the movie we had a Q&A with Zach Braff and he informed us that this was James Averys last role on film and left us all with hilarious little improv line. It was very funny. I highly recommend this movie for anyone who is a Zach Braff fan and wants to go out for a movie that is an emotional roller coaster with great visuals, solid acting and of course the great comedy of Zach Braff.The movie had great comedy and very real story line.A+++++

Review: Some have cast doubts on the verisimilitude of parts of this picture. Of course, those who impugn whether some events really happened or whether they happened the way they are depicted in the movie neither underwent the kind of training Navy S.E.A.Ls do nor did they ever find themselves in circumstances remotely approaching those of the four comrades. We do not know what punishment the human body is truly capable of withstanding until we are put to an extreme test, gods forbid.All I can say is that, regardless of whether this movie is accurate 100%, 0% or anything in between, it brought me to tears. I can honestly not remember the last time a Hollywood movie did that.Very moving, very poignant, very touching. For that alone, as well as for keeping me riveted for the whole of two hours (which is quite a feat given my cynical and jaded nature), it deserves unalloyed plaudits.

Review: Unfortunately the marketing for this film is subpar and misleading, as it was for the first one. My best advice to you is ***AVOID THE TRAILERS AT ALL COSTS. They include major spoilers to some very emotional points in the film. This is another level of animated film, one that gracefully crosses generational gaps and will speak volumes to any age group. Because of the critical and audience acclaim of the beloved predecessor, many are afraid that a sequel will not match the mastery of the first one, that this would be created purely as a money-making gimmick, like many Hollywood sequels. If these are your presumptions, you couldnt be more wrong. This film is worthy of all the hopes and expectations you are afraid to carry into the theater. DeBlois has told us a moving story, one that wont be soon forgotten, that so many of us will connect with. At Comic Con 2013, DeBlois said that this was The Empire Strikes Back of the trilogy. That is a hefty promise, which he has successfully delivered.The world of HTTYD2 has been vastly expanded and explored, very little of the film takes place on Berk. It is much more of an adventure film. The film has taken everything from HTTYD to the next level: emotion, intensity, action, adventure, humor, and depth. It takes risks I have seen so few animated films take, full of twists and turns, that will keep you engaged and invested.For me the film could have had a stronger beginning, a few less childish jokes, and a bit slower pacing (probably should have been about 10 minutes longer). Other than some very nit-picky notes, that is literally the worst that I can say about it.HTTYD2 is a phenomenal film and will deservedly pick up the academy award for best animated film of the year. John Powell, will again be nominated (and hopefully win) for his inventively emotional score.This was my most anticipated film of the past two years and it does not disappoint. The four years of work on it show, as it is a polished film. It is one of those rare films that inspires. And one of the few that you walk out of the theater feeling so much emotion and thinking Gosh, I cant wait to see that again.

Review: How can I fully express my total disappointment in this film? It may not be possible. I am one of those who actually liked the first Grown Ups. It had a plot, good characters and lots of fun. The sequel, on the other hand, is pointless, stupid, juvenile, and insulting. Not one redeeming quality in the entire movie. I contemplated leaving after the first 15 minutes! I forced myself to stay just to see if this mess would get any better. It didnt. The jokes concern nude men, homosexual men, brainless women, sex, bodily functions (over and over again!), and more of the same, repeatedly. No story, no acting, no thought, no point. I was the first one out of the theater and never looked back.What a total waste of time.
